Dimpur Naga Students' Union Urges Extension of Summer Break Due to Extreme Heat

Dimapur, June 30, 2025: In light of the intense summer heatwave sweeping Dimapur, the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has issued a formal appeal urging the extension of the summer break for government schools. Citing health and safety concerns for both students and teachers, the Union has called upon the concerned department to revise the existing academic calendar. As per the department’s academic calendar for 2025, the summer break is currently scheduled from July 14 to July 28. However, DNSU argues that this two-week duration is insufficient, especially considering the scorching temperatures that typically peak during July and August in Dimapur. The union has requested that the vacation be extended to at least 20 days, ideally spanning the entire month until the fourth week of August 2025.
